Scripture Memory Team: Verse 3.

Alright girls.  How's it going?

We have two down.  Way to go!

If you haven't memorized your first two (or any) don't be discouraged.

Start now.  You can do this.

Here's my verse for the next two weeks:

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I actually had to memorize this for Missionettes oh so many years ago.  As I've told you before, those Missionette leaders were no joke.  If you didn't know your verses in full - no mistakes, not only did you not earn your badge but they also told your grandma on you!  Anyway, I need to brush up on large portions of this that are no longer in my memory.

Please comment and let me know what verse you're working on.  It's good to encourage one another.  You can comment here or on Facebook.

Remember:

You are smart.
You are strong.
And most importantly, you are a daughter of the Most High God.

There is nothing you can't accomplish.

  1. Sorry I am checking in so late. My verse for this stretch is Galatians 5:16 - So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. (NLT)

Still working on last times verses though.

    1. Good verse. I did well with January's verses but I may have bit off more than I can chew this month. Turns out I don't remember as much of 1 Corinthians 13 as I thought I did. Challenging!

  2. Sorry that I didn't check in earlier, but I worked on Jeremiah 29:12-13 and James 1:5-6 for January and am now working on Tammy's suggestion of I Corinthians 2:9 for February. This verse encourages me as I'm talking to God about all those things on my Prayer List -- "But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'"
